The dead are rising and attacking all living beings, except one woman. Why are they leaving her alone? How will she cope with being utterly alone? A story about zombies, loneliness and finding company in the most unexpected ways.

Jude the Zombies edition by Staci Crouch Marco Tulluck Children eBooks

Jude & the Zombies is a story that takes place after a zombie apocalypse, and is told from the perspective of the unnamed protagonist. Surrounded by zombies that won't come near here for an unknown reason, she forces herself to go through every day without more than the briefest of human contacts (and those dangerous or heart-rending), until the day Jude, a young boy, comes into her life.

The book focuses less on the minutia of zombie apocalypse survival - since the zombies leave her alone, there are no running battles or things along those lines - and more on the effects of being alone, and later with coming together with another wary human. The lack of detail addressing food procurement and the like is occasionally a bit jarring - some elements get brushed aside - but it is still an enjoyable read. Like most good zombie stories, it's less about the zombies themselves and more about the people surrounded by them, and their interactions with each other in a dangerous world.

If you're looking for a gory zombie-fest, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a story about people coming together in a hostile world, it's worth reading.

Jude the Zombies edition by Staci Crouch Marco Tulluck Children eBooks Reviews

This book presents a rather unique take on the zombie apocalypse, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I especially liked the development of the relationship between the two main characters. The dynamics of this relationship, as well as the characters quest to somehow maintain hope in their bleak world, represents the lifeblood of this story. An awesome read!
A different take on zombies. It was short and sweet and still managed to make me feel for the main character. I would certainly recommend this to any zombie fan.
Great read, I had a really hard time putting it down. Amazing entertainment value for the price.

This story is a little bit mystery (why is does the main character naturally repel zombies?), a lot about being alone (what do you do when you're the only one left?), and a lot about a platonic love story of two people who find they are each others' new family.

The mystery element is satisfying, but the other two themes were even more interesting to me. I found myself sympathetic to the main character almost immediately - she's not an impenetrable action movie star, she's a person with all the fears and graces that come with humanity. Like the other reviewer wrote, it's not really a gory story about zombies, it's a story about people, with the zombie apocalypse as a setting. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
