The Truth about Sharks and Pigeons has been compared to the work of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Tom Holt, with just a dash of Dr Dolittle...

It’s not paranoia, if they really are out to get you... Bill Posters is an ordinary kind of guy. He’s put a great deal of effort into it. So why does he think he’s being stalked by pigeons? That’s not normal, is it? As if being harassed by winged vermin isn’t bad enough, Bill’s day is just about to get a whole lot worse. He’s got twenty four hours to save the world. Armed with a secret weapon more suited to the bathroom than the battlefield, Bill is joined by Fern, chunky knitwear aficionado, and Gregor, Chile’s second most dangerous assassin. Bill isn’t the Chosen One, but for now he will just have to do.

Prepare to learn the Truth about Sharks and Pigeons.

The Truth about Sharks and Pigeons Bill Posters Book 1 eBook Matt Phillips

I had no idea pigeons were up to so much. Not living in a big city, I rarely see the winged rats (oops, sorry) and had no idea sharks were so evil.

Entertaining story with some clever twists I didn't anticipate. Well done Mr. Posters!

The Truth about Sharks and Pigeons Bill Posters Book 1 eBook Matt Phillips Reviews

Funny, action-filled romp that kept me reading till the end. Not a real unique storyline, but it had some interesting touches.

Rather corny, and I sometimes found myself speed skimming through some of the more detailed scenes because they were too lengthy.
But the book was well written and entertaining. I'm not sure that I'd read a sequel, but I kind of liked this one.
Took me a little while to get into this book, but I really enjoyed it in the end. You have to relax and just go with the storyline and accept some of the silly ridiculousness that is thrown your way. Kind of reminds me of Austin Powers in that respect. Other reviewers have compared Mr Phillip's writing style to Douglas Adams, and there are some definite similarities. All in all, nice character development and a good ending.
You've got your reluctant hero, your cute and spunky sidekick, your super mercenary, You've got action, chaos, explosions and Wupass. Oh, and sharks on Segways.

It's a good book, It's funny and the pace is mostly good, lots of wordplay and strange introspection. I think I see some influence from Tom Holt here. The ending is a little weak, but the rest is strong. If you're in the mood for a little brain candy that won't insult your intelligence, give this book a try..
I loved the humor and it was oh so British. It was also a fun story. Sort of a toned-down Douglas Adams. Particularly enjoyed the tough-as-nails mercenary and... was that the queen who wiped out the sharks with a machine gun? I will be getting around to Sheep of War (as I remember the title as I write this). The only problem was I had a hard time picturing or getting a firm grip on some of the scenes.
Great eclectic story here. Don't over think the story line, or try to make sense of it. Fun read, just enjoy. Never would have thought that sharks and/or pigeons would be contenders for rulers of the world. (Spoiler alert.) Fun characters, and an interesting twist at the end of the book. In fact, this was such a fun romp, I am going to buy a copy for my brother...remember...it's Monty Python meets Dr. Who.
I started reading this book while waiting for my car to be fixed. This is a great read when you have a lot of distractions, like at a car repair shop, or an airport, etc. Some parts I found so funny that I was laughing out loud and I had to look around in case anybody noticed. It made my long wait less painful than it would have been otherwise. I enjoyed the book!
So if you are really into humor that leaves you feeling a bit odd for finding it funny in the first place, this is the book for you. What I loved the most about this book is that it grabs you from the first couple of pages and doesn't stop making you scratch your head until the end. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments in this book and as I was at a doctor's office while reading a majority of this, it provoked a lot of strange looks from the other patients waiting their turn. This is one of those books that I will definitely read again as I know I will find stuff in it the second time that I missed the first. There are a few minor editing issues but they were small things that didn't ruin the story at all. I have to recommend this one for the good time it offers. So much fun!
I had no idea pigeons were up to so much. Not living in a big city, I rarely see the winged rats (oops, sorry) and had no idea sharks were so evil.
